Rochester Accelerated Math Program

In an effort to challenge gifted math students, the Rochester Public Schools offers accelerated math classes.

RAMP stands for Rochester Accelerated Math Program. It is designed to meet the needs of high ability math students who have been identified through teacher recommendation, parent input, and standardized testing. Testing begins in 5th grade and students can be accelerated starting in 6th grade. Students are re-evaluated each year to ensure proper placement.

In addition, the University of Minnesota offers math classes for highly gifted math students in the Twin Cities. UMTYMP stands for the University of Minnesota Talented Youth Math Program. This program is provided bythe UM for students gifted and highly motivated in mathematics. Students must test into this program in the spring of the year.

***NEW STUDENTS*** New students to the District should contact Daniel Mansfield (Damansfield@rochester.k12.mn.us) to arrange for placement testing.
