Placement Test Reviews
The decision to skip a year of math should not be made lightly. Math is sequential and each year builds upon the mastery of the previous year's concepts and skills. While we provide this review material, the student should realize that they are responsible for the content of a whole year of math, not just the material covered in the review.

Please contact your gifted specialist if you intend to test out of a level of math.


Pre-Algebra Appeal Test

Any current 6th grade student who is currently in Math 6 has the opportunity to test for accelerated math in 7th grade. They would be skipping Pre- Algebra (7th grade class) and going directly to Linear Algebra (8th grade class) in 7th grade. This would be single acceleration. The criteria for this move are:

Students currently enrolled in Math 6 who wish to be enrolled in Linear Algebra must meet the following criteria:

• Minimum of a A in Math 6
• Pre- Algebra Placement Test > 80%
• Strong Teacher Recommendation

There are four reviews for the Pre-Algebra placement listed below. We strongly encourage students to review ALL 4 reviews for the test.  Each review is different.

Linear Algebra Appeal Test

Any current 7th grade student who is currently in Pre-Algebra has the opportunity to test for accelerated math in 8th grade. They would be skipping Linear Algebra (8th grade class) and going directly to Intermediate Algebra Honors (9th grade class) in 8th grade. The student and parent should realize that Intermediate Algebra Honors is a high school class. Students will earn a high school grade and the grade goes on the student's permanent high school transcript. The grade, as part of the grade point average (GPA), will be used to determine class rank and cannot be expunged!. The criteria for this move are;

Students currently enrolled in Pre- Algebra who wish to be enrolled in Intermediate Algebra Honors must meet the following criteria:

• Minimum of an A in Pre-Algebra
• Linear Algebra Placement Test > 80%
• Strong Teacher Recommendation
